Camping #1

Right after school got out June 1st we took the kids up camping by mille lac lake at a resort called Pete's retreat.  We went with a few different friends and had a fun time with the kids.

Snack Time
 They had a swimming pool
 and the kids loved it!
 Tami and Ryans new camper
 Ryan and Abby
 Alexis reading...of course
We brought the kids bikes and they rode all over the place.  They had two different huge playground areas, a fishing pond, and a bmx bike course which wasn't quite as big as we expected
 We roasted many marshmallows
 Yummy
I had a hard time putting my camera down so there are many more pictures to come...

Oreo

On Monday morning Alexis noticed Oreo's eye was all goopy and he wasn't able to get it open.  We were all just getting in the car so when we got home that night we noticed it was looking pretty bad.  Jason brought her into our friend Tami who is a Veterinarian, on his way to Volleyball that night.
She said that it looked like it had been cut by something and the eye would possibly need to be removed.
On Tuesday she brought him in to have surgery and they decided they were going to try to save the eye and stitch it up.  Just as they were finishing the surgery, Oreo's heart stopped working.  The two doctors did everything they could to get his heart back working again.
However it just wasn't strong enough to start pumping again.  Our sweet little boy is climbing lots of trees and chasing lots of mice in heaven:(
As soon as I picked up the kids from school on Tuesday Alexis asked how he was.  I somehow managed to get her to gymnastics(a mile away) without telling her.  Once there I got out of the car and my little animal lover was in tears in seconds.  I felt so bad for her.  To make it worse she had gymnastics so I had to leave her in tears and send her in.  I worked that night so Jason was on burial duty.  After Jason picked her up from gymnastics they went to pick up Oreo and brought him home.  Alexis picked a tree by our bird feeders so that he could watch the birds:(
Then they decorated a stone with his name and the date, and cut a peony from the bush and laid him to rest. We are very sad that he had to go but know he is having fun where he is.  The next morning Alexis told me that he got his wings because she saw the sun shinning on him.

Feed My Starving Children Field Trip

Last Tuesday Jason took the day off and went on a field trip with Alexis class and the 4th and 5th graders.  They went to feed my starving children and filled bags of powdered food for kids.  Here are Alexis and her friend Kennedy waiting to start
Alexis holding the bag under the filler with her teacher Mr. Johnson watching
 still holding the bags
After they were done filling bags, they drove the kids to a nice park in Burnsville.  They brought a picnic lunch and played at the park for a few hours

They had a ton of fun.  They even bought these containers of m&m's to fill with quarters and bring back next year when they go.

Alexis had her 2nd Gymnstics competition a few weeks ago.  It was at our home gym.  She improved on almost every event and did so well.  This time they gave out individual ribbons for each event in their age group.  She got a 7.0 on Vault and placed 3rd, She scored a 3.9 on Bars and placed 3rd, She scored 4.6 on Beam and placed 4th, Floor she scored 5.5 and placed 3rd. All Around she placed 3rd with a total of 21.0 .
 Her team placed second
 They all did really well
Grandpa and Grandma came to watch

 and Mom, Dad and Brayden
She has been working hard at practice and continues to improve each time I see her.  It so fun to watch her.

Eye Fun

One Night I had to work Jason took the kids with him to the eye doctor.  It sounded like they had fun trying to pick up the bug with the special glasses.

Airport Field Trip

The same day as grandparents day, Alexis had a field trip to the local airport.  Jason took the day off to go with them.  It sounded like the kids were very excited to see and learn about all they had to say.

They even got to learn about and see a glider take off and land.

Grandparents Day

The day after the kids concert was Grandparents Day at school.  Grandpa wasn't feeling well so Grandma went to both kids classes.  Braydens class met the grandparents outside and did some dancing and singing for them.
After the singing and dancing they did some fun things outside and also went to the book fair.
Alexis did an interview with grandma and then spoke about her to the class.  They also went to the book fair.
It sounded like all three of them had a lot of fun.  And the weather was gorgeous.

STEM school concert

The kids came home singing songs in English and Chinese for weeks.  They both worked very hard getting ready for their concert.  About a week and a half ago we were able to go listen to them.  They both did very good singing.

Here is Braydens class along with the other 1st grade class.  Brayden is right in the middle on the bottom.
Both kids were selected to sing the Chinese songs, there were 5 or 6 from each class chosen.  They sang quite a few songs in Chinese in between a small skit performed by four kids.
Alexis 3rd grade class on the top row and then the two 2nd grade classes below them. Alexis is in the top right corner.

Alexis 1st Gymnastics Meet

Warning:  There are a lot of pictures in this post!

We were so proud of Alexis at her first gymnastics meet a few weeks ago.  Her and her teammates all worked very hard in the last month to get ready.  They have been going over their routines at every practice.

We traveled to Mankato for her first meet.  We were able to watch them warm up on every event.  So I tried to take a lot of pictures(Which didn't turn out the best).  Here she is on the beam doing a cartwheel
and doing her dismount an aerial
Here she is waiting her turn for her mount on the beam
The next event was the floor.  She does an awesome front tuck and I caught her midway through this one.
This is during the competition doing her scale on beam
 waiting with her teammates
 Straddle Jump on Floor
Vault-she has great form on this one
Bars(she needs to work on straightening her legs:))
The girls didn't receive awards for individual events but did win the team competition.  They were so excited!  They were not expecting it.
Alexis with her coaches Heather and Erin
First Place team ribbon, and a medal for competing, along with a certificate with her scores on it.
So proud of you Alexis:)  Keep up the hard work
